TOUCH GROUNDTheresa Schütz

The performative urban journey “TOUCH GROUND” focuses on land as a living resource and its attribution of value in a double sense: land is considered the common good par excellence, the basis of life and a symbol of life on earth. At the same time, land and soil stand for ownership structures, create border logics and demarcated territories in both urban and rural areas. With soil in their pockets, the group performance moves from the Zukunftshof in the Rothneusiedl urban development area to the urban housing complex “Am Schöpfwerk”. There, the pockets are emptied to the sound collage of young people from the “Musikmittelschule Am Schöpfwerk”.

Within the station theater, the contributors and participants transport not only soil, but also stories. “The collective urban exploration uses artistic means of immersive site-specific theater in public space. The audience becomes an active part of an artistic cognitive enterprise that traces our urbanized relationship to the earth in a performative urban journey and in a transdisciplinary collaboration between artists, architects and environmental researchers.” (Theresa Schütz)
