Welcome to KÖR
Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Wien

Public Art Vienna

The task of KÖR is to revitalize public space in the city of Vienna by installing permanent or temporary artistic projects. In this way the identity of the city and individual neighbourhoods will be strengthened in the area of contemporary arts and discourse, and the function of public space as an agora – the site of social and cultural debate – will be revived. KÖR does not view art in public space as decoration but as an opportunity to reflect on content and radical aesthetic positions, and as symbolic markings in areas which have previously been lacking in cultural offerings.

KÖR will be organizing artistic projects, commissioning artists, arranging competitions for artistic projects in public space, granting awards for artists or other project organizers, as well as carrying out activities resulting from or accompanying these projects (publications, events, symposia, etc.).

The projects are to be implemented in a freely accessible public space in Vienna in which art can be experienced by everyone.
