US architect and architecture critic Philip Johnson (1906–2005) is regarded as one of the founders of postmodernism and deconstructivist architecture. This three-part object was developed for his exhibition “Turning Point” (1996) in the Museum of Applied Arts in 1996 and installed in the first district in 1998. Johnson’s “Wiener Trio” clearly reveals the architect’s fascination with monumentality, dynamics, and the fragmentation of voluminous bodies. The three elements combine sculptural and architectural structures and unfold a play of light and shadow that continuously changes in the course of the day.
