Since 1986, one can spot Thomas Baumgärtel's yellow "Spray Bananen" (Spray Bananas) in many European cities in places where art is found (galleries, museums). The German artist marks art locations around the world using a stencil, and although at first he was convicted on charges of property damage, his bananas are now considered to be a mark of distinction. He became active in Vienna in 1992; in 2002 he decorated a Vienna tramcar.
