The BAWAG foundation was founded in 1974 with the goal of promoting contemporary art and its understanding through exhibitions, publications and events. Between 1988 and 1992 it organized temporary sculpture exhibitions in the Tuchlauben pedestrian zone in the 1st district. During its last decade, four to five sculptures were displayed for six to eight weeks each.
