The artist group WochenKlausur aims to achieve socio-political change with artistic means.
In 1993 Wolfgang Zinggl invited eight artists (Martina Chmelarz, Marion Holy, Christoph Kaltenbrunner, Friederike Klotz, Alexander Popper, Anne Schneider, Erich Steurer, Gudrun Wagner) to participate in an exhibition in Vienna's Secession with the title 11 Weeks in Tests, in the course of which a solution to a location-specific problem would be worked on. The first project to be realized was free health care for the homeless in Vienna who don't have medical insurance. In the meantime, Caritas has taken over the project and treats more than 700 patients a month with the help of a mobile ambulance. Since then, more than 20 projects with over 50 artists participating in various roles have been realized.

WochenKlausur
Since 1993 and on invitation from different art institutions, the artist group WochenKlausur develops concrete proposals aimed at small, but nevertheless effective improvements to socio-political deficiencies. Proceeding even further and invariably translating these proposals into action, artistic creativity is no longer seen as a formal act but as an intervention into society.
