Created after an idea by Christine Böhler, Light Cell is a nine-meter long electronic LED display, and was expanded with an additional virtual light cell in 1998. Installed in 1993, this digital illuminated wall was used by authors Elfriede Jelinek, Bodo Hell, Ferdinand Schmatz and Werner Kofler as part of the words don't need pages festival. Starting in November 2006, Light Cell has been permanently installed in Flex nightclub on the Danube Channel. The wall has in the meantime displayed texts by more than 100 authors.
