Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang creates his ephemeral installations using gunpowder fire, water, wood and earth as ingredients. The New York-based artist became known for his spectacular pyrotechnical experimental setups, "Fire Lines." One such line darted across the sky from the cranes on the construction site of the new Kunsthalle Wien on the MuseumsQuartier court on November 6, 1999.
