Titled Hauptweg und Nebenwege (Primary Route and Byways), the sculptures above the subway ventilation shafts reflect the importance of the square as a traffic hub. Based on drawings that show the local traffic situation and Vienna’s rail network, the sculptures evoke maps, paths, or routes. They translate states like standstill or motion into a concrete form.
