The artist Oliver Hangl, using the most varied audio-visual means available from theatre, film and pictorial art, set up head sets along the Wiener Gürtel to create an individual listening experience in public space. This unusual concert series – ON EAR – was presented in its third year in an expanded form with a three-part programme. For the first part the glass cube designed by Valie Export on the middle strip of the Wiener Gürtel near Josefstädter Straße was converted into a concert stage. With GUERILLADISCO the concept of a radio-head-set-discotheque in public space was set into motion. The base station was a used and newly equipped all-wheel broadcasting vehicle that travelled in the area around the Gaudenzdorfer Platz/U4 Margaretengürtel. The third part, KINO IM KOPF, presented the audio versions of films without showing the pictures. The audience sat on the green areas of the Margaretengürtel at Haydnpark and listened to the “blind version” of the original sound track.
