Es ist nicht alles Gold was glänzt (All That Glisters Is Not Gold) was a temporary intervention in public space. It was a gilded sports cage on the Margaretengürtel, which was also visible at night under floodlights. The paint weathered in the course of time and due to the nature of the undercoat the color gradually faded so that the original galvanized surface became visible.
Es ist nicht alles Gold was glänzt: appearance replaced reality, mediality became reality, individuality became business. The private sphere was public and independence ended in dependency — the facade crumbled, the golden cage gradually lost its sparkle and it became clear: a golden cage is still a cage!
