Anna Meyer’s billboard Another Time, Another Planet was an oversized oil painting the artist conceived for the façade of a company complex which offered a mirror image of ist environs for one year. Based on the real setting, the picture explicitly and paradigmatically rendered the situation on the outskirts near the gasometers in Wien-Simmering.
Different worlds and levels of time meet on the city’s fringes. The billboard examined and described reality in all its rampant aspects, thus presenting itself as an ambiguous trustee of doubts, melancholy, and dissolution, of images and the actual world.
In the complex development area near the gasometers, Anna Meyer’s Another Time, Another Planet unfolded a wide panorama of a flexible reality in the sense of an everyday-cultural practice. Her painting merged the documentary – harsh reality – with the absurd and various word images: postdemo, de-generation, planetism, Another Time . . . Another Planet . . .
