Artist's statement
By grasping what we have grasped, we are moved.
We grasp the unfathomable vastness of millions upon millions of years of physical and mental reach, of countless species and beings. It is through this grasping that our hands came into being, and with them we have created robotic hands.

Statement by the jury
In "Das Ungreifbare und das Begreifen", Oliver Schürer explores the evolving relationship between the human and robotic body – without passing any moral judgement on it. The film, which focuses on human tactile sensitivity, directs our sensory awareness towards the question of the significance of the physical body, bodily experience and non-verbal forms of human interaction.
