Ed Ruscha's two pieces, 17th Century and 20th Century were created for the exhibition series Large Scale (curated by Kasper König and Hans-Ulrich Obrist in cooperation with museum in progress) on the occasion of The Broken Mirror exhibition organized by the Vienna City Festival.

The specially-created textiles were placed on Kunsthalle Wien on Karlsplatz (10 by 54 meters) and on the facades of Hall B of the Messepalast (10 by 40 meters), thus creating a connection between the two exhibition locations.
