John Miller and Richard Hoeck, who have worked together frequently, developed a dialogue for Autonomous Acts. This dialogue between a male and a female mannequin, Camouflage on a Mannequin, could be observed from the street. The mannequins looked quite undistinguished and seemed to be used to sell military or hunting equipment. However, once one entered the narrative space that unfolded between the figures, possibilities expanded as if these were film stills. Over the project run, the mannequins were repeatedly dressed up in different costumes and repositioned, which gave the art action something of the character of a movie with a sequence of new and changing scenes. Viewers found themselves confronted with the question whether it was a romance, a thriller, or a horror movie.
