In the framceowkr of the project "Text:Raum:Form" artists working in different disciplines were invited to realize temporary works of art for the glass sculpture "The Transparent Space - Kubus EXPORT", which was fabricated by VALIE EXPORT and Silja Tillner. Although this walk-in glass object offers unique possibilities, it calls for a spcifically coordinated approach due to its special location on the median strop between the two roadways of the heavily trafficked Gürtel beltway. Only a small portion of the planned projects could be carried out.

Realized projects

Michael Schauer and Nik Thoenen started with the project "fill-out sculpture" - a balloon which was blown up in the glass cube, filling the space and the making space again once it burst. In addition to this specific effect, various possibilities of sculpture were explored. A soft, maleable and round shape, for example, was made visible on the inside of a hard transparent cube.

Lotte Schreiber and Norbert Pfaffenbichler transposed "Blank", a text produced by the media theorist Marc Ries specifically for their project to an evenly structured grid representing letters and punctuation signs as well as blanks. This grid covered the entire cube with black and transparent segments.
