The following five short films were selected from almost 200 competition entries:
Sebastian Doringer, The Boxer
Only since February 2019 are partially veiled boxers allowed to take part in international fights. My short film stands for this won fight towards equality of all people, regardless of their origin or faith.
Katharina Grafinger, memoria spongeae exornatus
Memoria spongeae exornatus - moving creatures, deforming objects - oscillate in a world between liveliness and inanimateness. The material possesses a memory of form, which pauses impressions for a certain time and which resists the gravity of lifelessness. The ballast of everyday life is symbolized for the viewer and is intended to create moments of contemplative perception in busy public places.
Raphael Reichl, ttt touch me
ttt touch me shows automated choreographies of our everyday actions. Instead of a haptic experience, an awareness of a world that appears behind the screen moves. Accordingly, we fulfil our needs in a sequence of movements via thumb and index finger, which significantly changes our tactile perception and communication and whose origin can only be recognised if we consciously question it.
Paul Spendier, ....
A robotic apparatus mechanically imitates an intuitive, human gesture. It evokes images of a future in which machines not only automate work processes, but also adopt seemingly senseless human habits.
Armin Wagner und Liddy Scheffknecht, pop up (Eckbank)
The corner bench, a typical Austrian piece of furniture, is known for its immobility. Once installed, it usually does not release the living space it occupies, and stands for durability, comfort, privacy, tradition and conservatism. In the collaborative work "pop up (corner seat)" the corner seat together with the table becomes mobile. The sculpture, which consists exclusively of cardboard and adhesive tape, can be opened and closed like an oversized book.
