The sculpture “Ferryman” by Tony Cragg (born in 1949) radiates the British artist’s fascination with the tension between geometric and organic forms. Cragg’s experiments with bronze are also of crucial importance. “Ferryman” is one in a group of sculptures titled “Envelopes.” The perforated surface allows the artist to thematize both the sculpture’s empty inside and its outside appearance. “The body is always the result of its inner nature” (Tony Cragg).
