"A flat hill, cut out and fit in—even the surroundings turn into a stage from up here, and I into an actor. I look at the city. The city looks back." -
Christian Hasucha
Die Insel (The Island), a planted hill seven meters in diameter on Nestroyplatz, invites visitors to see the city from a new perspective.
Passersby and all people interested may book Die Insel for an individual period between noon and 8 p.m. and use it at will. Whether serving for a picnic, a work meeting, or a live concert—Die Insel is what visitors make it. A folding ladder ensures the visitor’s spontaneous escape from the city’s frantic activity. The 360-degree-panorama of urban life provides a public-private retreat that allows them to deliberately leave their run-of-the-mill world behind.
