With their “Dance and Encounter installation”, Gabi Seeleitner and Christa Stöffelbauer would like to shift the attention of the city's inhabitants away from their smartphone screens and into the immediate surrounding in public space.

They place chairs in the pedestrian zone of Favoritenstraße, inviting people to take a seat opposite the participating performers. This setting would like to offer a frame, where an emotional connection between people who were previously strangers can eventually arise, to raise awareness of different life realities and to contribute to a respectful coexistence. In a defined space, the encounter can be transformed into a dance duet to site-specific composed music. For participants and passers-by alike, the dances can be experienced as a moving dance installation.

Gabi Seeleitner and Christa Stöffelbauer want to open up spaces where people can meet. They deliberately chose Favoriten as the location in order to reach a diverse range of people. Prior to the installations, open dance workshops will be held in the district once in May and once in June.
