An analysis of the Vienna AI Talks by KI.

‘Machines Learn Nothing’ is based on the Vienna AI Talks, in which Klaus Speidel has been engaging in dialogue with experts and the citizens of Vienna at various institutions since January 2025, on topics including ‘AI and what is wrong’, ‘AI and work’, ‘AI and music’ and ‘AI and mental health’. For the wall newspaper, Speidel used various AI systems to select and annotate quotes from these discussions.

Klaus Speidel
Philosopher, art critic and curator. After completing his PhD at the Sorbonne in Paris on visual storytelling, he spent many years researching storytelling and narratives. Since 2025, he has been developing the art programme ‘artloop’ at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, which combines artistic methods with innovation and technology. His current focus, on which he has held several seminars at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, is the impact of artificial intelligence on thought, action and society. Together with Claudia Larcher, he also developed the workshop series ‘My Life with AI’ for the Kulturlabor Gemeindebau and gives lectures internationally.

Carlo Zappella
Studied Artistic Photography at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Gabriele Rothemann. His main interests lie in the artistic process itself and in exploring perception and reality. His works combine various media such as photography, 3D rendering, sculpture and video, and encourage reflection on the self within a broader context. His first solo exhibitions were 'The Seamless Switch' (Stadtgalerie Raumimpuls, 2026) and 'Digital Doubles' (Horizont Gallery, Budapest, 2026); he has also taken part in numerous group exhibitions. His work has been published in, amongst others, the 'P.IN.E.A Periodical' (2025/26).
