The contextualisation of the Lueger monument entered its decisive phase in mid-January 2026 – the actual work on the square itself. Once the construction site at Stubentor had been set up, scaffolding was erected around the monument and information boards were put up on the construction fence.

From the start of the construction work until mid-June 2026, the construction fence at Karl-Lueger-Platz also served to provide information to the interested public. Here, more detailed information was provided on the redesign of the monument, its history, Lueger’s anti-Semitism, the art competition and the design “Schieflage (Karl Lueger 3.5°)” – in German and English, as well as in easy-to-read language.
